  20. African names are simple because they mean what they say. it is everyday language where one in a sentence can say kefilwe, meaning ‘i am given, or gift’. it should not be difficult for Africans to know the meaning of their names unless they are not familiar with the language they are named with. Zinziswa is a Xhosa name, the verb means ‘zinza’ which means ‘stable’, the ‘swa’ at the end means that it is something that you are made to do (ukwenziswa). therefore if zinza is stable and ‘swa’ is something you are made to do,Zinziswa could be ‘stabilize’.
As Africans know, their names mean something for them or their parents, it could be that before the child was born one or the other parent was ‘unstable, wild, very social etc’. the presence of the child then should ‘stabilize’ him/her.
